Brandon and Nellicia both grew up in British Columbia in Christian homes. They attended the same Christian school from Kindergarten through Grade 12. After high school, Brandon pursued his passion for flying by obtaining his pilot licence at Principal Air. He began instructing at the school in 2018. Meanwhile, Nellicia obtained a Bachelor of Music and Education at UBC and UFV, respectively. Upon graduation, she began teaching at the same school that she and Brandon had attended.
After becoming a pilot, Brandon’s desire to combine his faith with his aviation training and experience rekindled the call to missions he had felt several years earlier. Nellicia had always been interested in using her skills and experience as a teacher to serve overseas. In 2015, Brandon and Nellicia went on a mission trip to Haiti where they saw the work of MAF firsthand. This experience ultimately affirmed their calling to pursue missions as a way to reach people for Christ.
In 2020, the Van Saanes were married, and in 2021, they welcomed their daughter Nova to their family. Shortly after they were married, they explored options to serve and felt God leading them to MAF.
Please prayerfully consider partnering with Brandon and Nellicia as they build their Ministry Partnership team and prepare to serve the Lord with MAF in Papua New Guinea.
