Ryan & Kristen UNGER

Ryan and Kristen

Caleb, Joel, and Renée

To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
– Jude 1:25 (NIV)

Ryan and Kristen met in Grade 3 in Nairobi, Kenya, where they both grew up in missionary families. After high school, Ryan attended Providence College in Manitoba and graduated with a degree in Mission Aviation, while Kristen studied Teaching English as a Second Language at Bethel University in Minnesota.

The Ungers were married in August 2004. Feeling God’s leading to missions, they began the application process to join MAF. While in process, Ryan worked as a flight instructor and also flew in northern Manitoba for LAMP (Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots).

Ryan and Kristen have served under MAF’s Kenya, South Sudan and Madagascar Programs since September 2006. They lived in Nairobi, Kenya, for 3 years and in Juba, South Sudan, for nearly 7 years. They moved to Madagascar in 2016, where Ryan is the Operations Manager and flies the Cessna 182 and Caravan.

Kristen has been able to put her education background to good use over the years and is now involved at the French primary school their children Caleb (2010), Renée (2012), and Joel (2014) attend in Antananarivo.

Please pray for the Unger family as they continue to be part of what God is doing in Madagascar.

MAF needs couples like Ryan and Kristen who are prepared and willing to serve the needs of the poor in Madagascar. Consider contributing to the important work they are helping to make possible with MAF.
