Joel and Hayley HENSEN

Joel’s passion for flying began very young and at the age of 15 he completed his first solo flight. After pursuing flying as a career at University, he returned home to pursue his growing desire for God and attended Bible College; creating a strong biblical foundation in his walk with God. Joel later completed his aviation training at Harv’s Air in Manitoba and also worked as the Assistant-Chief Flight Instructor at Brantford Flight Centre.

Hayley grew up in British Columbia where her passion to travel and be involved with helping people began. After high school Hayley settled in Brantford, Ontario. It wasn’t until her early twenties that Hayley first experienced God after being saved from a life of drug and alcohol addiction. From that moment on God began to work powerfully in her life and Hayley also attended Bible College to deepen her knowledge of God.

Joel and Hayley met in 2007 through a close mutual friend and mentor. It was their love of God and desire to know Him intimately that created the foundation of their relationship. After 3 years of dating, they were married in December of 2011. They joined MAF in 2013.

Joel and Hayley are currently serving in Nyankunde, Democratic Republic of Congo, where Joel serves as a pilot and Hayley takes care of their two children, Abigail (2013) and Caleb (2015). They are fulfilling their calling to physically and spiritually help those in need, and we invite you to prayerfully consider joining their ministry partnership team.

MAF needs couples like Joel and Hayley who are prepared and willing to serve among the poor in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Please consider contributing to the important work they are helping to make possible with Mission Aviation Fellowship in the DRC.
