Lowell and Gail Deering began serving with MAF in January 1988. Since then, they have ministered through MAF to remote people groups in Australia, Papua New Guinea, and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Deerings have two grown sons: Caleb, the oldest, now works as a paramedic in Australia. Tobin, the youngest, is attending college in Canada.
Lowell has flown thousands of flights, bringing much needed church, medical, educational, building, and primary produce to and from developing communities inaccessible by road. He has trained Papua New Guinean pilots as well as conducted advanced pilot training for new field staff.
Lowell has held a number of senior positions in the MAF world, including Chief Pilot in Papua New Guinea, and Asia-Pacific Region Flight Standards Manager at the MAF-International office in Cairns, Australia.
During this time, Gail has had varied roles, including hospitality co-ordinator, teacher and administrative assistant. While in Australia, she completed a post-graduate diploma in education and taught in the Australian school system.
Lowell and Gail returned to PNG for another term to fill a critical need for a Twin Otter pilot and teacher, before returning to Canada in July 2014.
Lowell currently serves at the MAF Canada Home Office in Guelph as VP of Operations and Recruiting.
We invite you to prayerfully consider joining their ministry partnership team as they continue to work with MAF to meet the needs of remote and disadvantaged people.
