Marcel and Kelly
BOERS

Ethan, Avro, and Silas

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
– James 1:27 (ESV)

Marcel and Kelly both grew up in rural southwestern Ontario in Christian families. Growing up in Ancaster, Marcel was fascinated by the airplanes making their final approach into the nearby Hamilton Airport and enjoyed attending the annual airshows. Marcel’s passion for planes led him to pursue a career as an aircraft maintenance engineer and he also obtained a private pilot license.

Kelly grew up on a farm near Blenheim. She accepted Christ in elementary school and continued to follow him throughout high school and university. While on a five-month study abroad trip in South Africa, her heart to serve in overseas ministry was first awakened, and after her return she continued to seek out opportunities to serve through supply teaching and camp ministries.

Marcel and Kelly met during their post-secondary education in North Bay. They attended an Urbana Missions Conference together in 2009, where they both clearly felt God’s call to missions through MAF.

Since 2015, Marcel and Kelly, along with their sons Ethan Avro, and Silas have been fulfilling God’s call to service in Angola. As Marcel diligently works to maintain the aircraft, and Kelly dedicates her time to teaching at the local international school, they are an integral part of continuing the 30-year legacy of MAF’s investment in spiritually and physically transforming the lives of the people of Angola.

Please prayerfully consider partnering with Marcel and Kelly as they serve the Lord with MAF in Angola.

Help fund the Mitcha basketball court project

The Mitcha compound in Lubango is a hub of missionary activity. Not only does it house missionaries from multiple ministries (including MAF), but it also hosts the only local English-language school, which many missionaries utilize for their children. It is only because this school exists that foreign missionary families can work in Angola.

This special fund aims to help purchase and build a multi-sport activity pad on the Mitcha compound. Not only will this mean that the Mitcha school can develop a sports curriculum for its students, but this also enables further outreach activities within the local community. The missionaries living on the Mitcha compound are already planning to host local community sports tournaments and run a sports camp for community members. This sports pad will be an amazing resource for the current Mitcha residents and create a huge impact in the local community.
