Marcel and Kelly
BOERS

Ethan and Avro

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
– Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)

Marcel and Kelly Boers both grew up in rural southwestern Ontario to hard-working, Christian families. Marcel is from Ancaster, Ontario and grew up on a small hobby farm. He is the third out of four children, and was home-schooled along with his siblings until grade 8. When he was young, he was always fascinated by the airplanes making their final approach into the nearby Hamilton Airport, and enjoyed attending the annual airshows.

This fascination influenced Marcel to pursue a career as an aircraft maintenance engineer as well as obtaining a private pilot license. After completing 5 years with Air Canada Jazz as an AME, Marcel has decided to apply his skills and abilities with MAF, and looks forward to where God will bring him and his wife Kelly. Marcel also enjoys playing hockey and golf when time permits it.

Kelly was raised on a farm near Blenheim, Ontario. She accepted Christ in elementary school and continued to follow him throughout high school and university. While attending Nipissing University for Environmental Geography, she spent five months in South Africa on a study abroad trip.

It was there that she developed an interest in serving overseas, but it wasn’t until she attended the Urbana Missions Conference in 2009 that she felt God calling her into missions. She attended teachers college at Western University, and continued to serve God in southern Ontario through supply teaching and camp ministries.

Marcel and Kelly met during their post-secondary education in North Bay. Together, they attended Urbana Missions Conference in 2009, where they felt God’s call to missions through MAF. They were married in February of 2012, with the dream of entering the mission field together. Since that time, they have lived and worked in London, Ontario, serving as youth leaders and ushers at their church.

As Marcel and Kelly continue to fulfill their calling to physically and spiritually help those in need in Angola, we invite you to prayerfully consider joining their ministry partnership team with regular financial support that will help to make the work they are involved in with MAF possible.

Please prayerfully consider partnering with Marcel and Kelly as they serve the Lord with MAF in Angola.

MAF needs couples like Marcel and Kelly who are prepared and willing to serve the needs of the poor in Angola. Consider contributing to the important work they are helping to make possible with MAF.

Help fund the Mitcha International School

The Mitcha International School is a small not-for profit, Christian school of approximately 25 students in Lubango, Angola. It is run by MAF missionary teachers Helena Mudde and Kelly Boers, and is the only local school providing an English-language education using American curriculum. For this reason, the school provides a valuable service, at an affordable price, to local MAF and other ex-pat families, as well as Angolan families seeking a quality international education.

The purpose of this special project fund is to help cover costs of various upgrades in the school, including technology upgrades. We are currently moving into a different building and need new tables, desks, and chairs for younger students. Over the next few years, we are also working to upgrade the technology in the school to allow for more online streaming (a valuable asset to support our curriculum). Our long term goal is to save enough money to build a new school, and recruit more long-term teachers to assist us in the amazing ministry!
