Hadassa, Deborah, and Teresa

Romão was born in Angola. Due to the civil war, his family fled to the Congo, where he received his basic education. After returning to Angola, he accepted Christ in 1992. He completed Bible college in Lubango and was involved in various mission projects in Africa. He completed his aircraft maintenance training at the MAF base in Brazil in 2002 and served in Brazil for 5 years as an AME.

Luciana was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Through a series of direct interventions by God, she accepted Christ as her Savior and Lord in 1989 and one year later she sensed a call to Africa. Luciana graduated with a Bachelor of Theology in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She is also a certified teacher.

Romão and Luciana married in Brazil in 2004 and have 3 daughters, Hadassa (born in Brazil 2006), Deborah (born in Uganda 2007) and Teresa (born in Angola 1994 and adopted in 2013).

Romão and Luciana served with MAF in Brazil until 2006 and in Uganda from early 2007 until October 2008. In March 2009, they came to Canada for Romão to obtain his Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineers licenses. They then served with the MAF Canada Angola Program in Lubango from October 2009 until October 2014 as an AME, and in the local church as assistant pastors in a variety of ministries.

In November 2014, the Antonios returned to Brazil to work with Asas de Socorro. On February 1, 2018, they returned to Angola where Antonio serves as Pastor of the Angolan International Christian Church, in addition to assisting MAF Angola’s program as needed and providing pastoral care to MAF Angola’s national staff.

MAF needs couples like Romão and Luciana who are prepared and willing to serve the needs of the poor in Angola. Consider contributing to the important work they are helping to make possible with MAF.
