The MAF Chad programme provides ‘high-impact’ flying services to missionaries and organisations over the vast distances of the sahara and sahel, and among some of the most isolated and underdeveloped areas in Africa. This is an ideal opportunity for a flexible individual to join small, vibrant programme, where there is plenty of scope for involvement in a number of areas besides flying. You will be a flexible and adaptable individual who likes variety, and has industry experience. This will enable you assist in the operations of the programme in various support functions.

You will effectively manage the activities of our local Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO), ensuring that our aircraft are maintained to MAF, national and international aviation standards. In this role, you will also support the training and development of local maintenance staff by mentoring/coaching and managing training plans.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the training and development of aviation staff by working with them proactively. You will do this by coaching them in maintenance and participate in training plans if applicable.

This role needs a strategic thinker, a person who will assist the Country Director in tactical planning. The plans will provide a process to execute an effective and efficient means of managing resource.

Other duties will include managing stock levels, ensuring documentation is completed and organised, and taking an active role in the programme management team.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Completion of approved aircraft maintenance engineer pre-employment course
  • An aptitude in verbal, non-verbal, numerical and mechanical reasoning
  • Successfully completed and obtained GCSE and A-level qualifications
  • A working knowledge of French
  • 5 years experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • ICAO Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence without type rating
  • Aircraft and engine type courses as appropriate.
  • Knowledge of health and safety principles

Desirable

  • National Aircraft Maintenance Engineers licence as required

Mission pilots will carry out flying duties under the leadership of the Chief Pilot.

Pilots are required to have a minimum of 1000 hours total flight time (which includes 500+ hours PIC) with appropriate experience or ratings as necessary. This could include experience on multi-engine or turbo-prop aircraft in order to operate our Cessna Caravans.
